colt.45手槍為美軍陸軍於1911年採用之制式手槍，一直服役到1984年才退役。由於美國陸軍最初懷疑其創新的自動裝填機械構造穩定性，因而要求其發明者john m. browning重新修改其機構設計之後，才允許其投入服務。
後來的版本m1911a1，運用了其反衝力以將滑套推回、彈出彈殼，推回扳機撞針並重新裝填彈藥-全都於一秒內完成。此半自動手槍最後完成版本擁有了比前一構型.38口徑m1900更強的阻擋火力，同時改善了自動裝填，能夠更快速的進行射擊。當於一次大戰時，超過一半以上應徵入伍的士兵配戴了colt.45手槍。於二次大戰時，規章禁止步兵使用此手槍。然而，這些規章並沒有強制實施，許多士兵盡可能取得這些武器作為其最後依靠的武器。
於1945年日本宣布投降日vj day,美國陸軍取消了最後一批的colt.45手槍訂單，所有後來仍在服役的手槍都是重新使用的二手手槍。可靠度與準確度，
colt.45手槍是美軍陸軍曾經製作的最終一款手槍。

步槍:m1葛倫德半自動步槍

美軍步槍，.30口徑,m1步槍或葛倫德半自動步槍為美軍步兵標準配發步槍。其名稱來自其發明者john c. garand，此款武器為戰鬥中首次廣泛使用半自動步槍。儘管此款步槍於1936年被美國陸軍所採用，葛倫德直到1943年才改善補給短缺問題。但是直到大戰結束，此款步槍共生產了超過四百萬支。
葛倫德半自動步槍相當容易拆卸與清槍，同時其結合了口徑、槍口速率及半自動操作，提供了遠比單發操作步槍更強大的火力。其唯一缺點為部分射擊彈匣不易進行重新裝填。美國大兵有時需要射擊完剩餘彈藥，以裝填新彈匣。

狙擊步槍:春田03狙擊步槍

官方設計名稱為「美軍步槍，.30 口徑，1903 型」。不過春田、春田 '03或簡單的 '03 更為大家所熟悉。此款單發操作步槍，美國陸軍於1903年正式採用並一直到1936年止都仍是美軍武裝部隊標準配發步槍。
於1906年，.30口徑子彈修改與變更設計為「m1906 彈藥」；此款步槍即變成廣為所知的.30-06步槍。此款彈藥成為美軍接下來五十年之標準步槍及機槍彈藥。
於1936年，春田'03步槍被m1葛倫德半自動步槍所取代，但是許多春田步槍依然於二次大戰中作戰。於諾曼第戰役，春田步槍使用為主要的狙擊武器；絕大部分的步兵喜好半自動及全自動武器更甚於單發操作，但春田步槍具有準確性的優勢，是其他武器如葛倫德半自動步槍、m1 卡賓槍及白朗寧自動步槍所無法提供的。

衝鋒槍:湯姆生衝鋒槍

john t. thompson協助了春田 '03步槍與colt.45手槍的研發，他開始設計一款「戰壕清除」武器以作為近距離作戰之後。不久，在他於1918年自陸軍退役後，他發覺m1911所使用之 .45 口徑子彈，當使用於全自動武器時，將具有極強大的破壞力。由1920春天開始,thompson的公司（auto-ordnance）開始生產每分鐘可以射擊800發子彈的原型槍枝。儘管其傑出的測試性能，thompson還是沒有獲得美國陸軍或海軍陸戰隊的採用與訂單。
儘管如此，thompson還是與colt簽約生產了15,000支此型槍枝，定名為「湯普生衝鋒槍 thompson submachine gun，1921 型」。由colt所生產的15,000把槍枝最後直到二次世界大戰前夕，於1940年，美國陸軍採購了20,000支湯普生衝鋒槍；於1941年，陸軍額外增加訂單319,000支。湯普生衝鋒槍主要優勢之一為其可靠度；此款衝鋒槍比其他衝鋒槍在經過灰塵、泥漿及下雨後，具有更佳的操作可靠度。對於湯普生衝鋒槍的主要抱怨為其重量（超過十磅），超過50碼後射擊無法精準及穿透力不佳（對於二次大戰所有衝鋒槍都有此抱怨）。

自動步槍：白朗寧自動步槍

白朗寧自動步槍（bar：browning automatic rifle）最初之m1918a1版由美國士兵於大一次世界大戰中首次使用，這其中許多槍枝並於二次世界大戰中服役。bar由於其於不利狀況下之可靠表現獲得了很高的評價。於1940年,m1918a2型正式採用。
不同於早期的構型，此新款步槍可以採用兩種自動射擊模式：慢速射擊
（每分鐘 300 至 450 發子彈）或快速射擊（每分鐘 500 至 650 發子彈），但是沒有半自動模式。兩種構型都被廣泛的採用；由於可靠度與提供了絕佳的快速射擊與其穿透火力，bar於各戰區都廣為使用。bar的唯一嚴重缺點為其缺乏快速更換的槍管，以降低射擊過熱的狀況。

對於步兵需要反戰車武器的需求反應，軍械部的（ordnance department)
leslie a. skinner及edward g. uhl於1942年初研發了火箭砲-一款使用了電力發射機械結構的鐵製發射管。自此美軍步兵不再缺乏反戰車火箭以進行反制戰車作戰。另外一名軍械部的同仁henry h. mohaupt，已經在著手設計一種砲彈型手榴彈以供步兵用以對抗戰車之用。mohaupt 的 m10 手榴彈重量超過 3.5 磅，造成其幾乎不可能有效的投擲。然而當skinner及uhl開始附加mohaupt的手榴彈設計至其火箭筒火箭設計，於測試時三次成功命中目標，軍械部立即發現核准了此新武器之重要性。
許多火箭筒被採購運載至美國盟軍；事實上，當德軍虜獲這些武器時，他們複製了武器設計而製造出反戰車武器panzerschreck（戰車剋星 "tank terror"）。bazooka 火箭筒的名稱由喜劇演員bob burns以音樂新發明的概念想出此名稱。

最早設計作為警用武器，winchester霰彈槍是一款堅固耐用武器。此款結實結構，往復動作之霰彈槍由一具20吋槍筒所構成，射擊時形成射擊者附近廣泛的攻擊面積。

重型機槍:m1919a4 .30口徑機架式機槍

當早期的水冷式機槍使用時，就已經發現其持久的高速射擊與精進能力，之後之氣泠式m1919a4變成前線部隊的最愛武器。一些機架式並配備於美國jeep吉普車上作為武裝巡邏戒之用。
